That's right:) Baby Groce #2 will arive in June! We are truly blessed to have another little one on the way!

I am 13 weeks today and this ultrasound was about a week and half ago. They have trouble finding a heartbeat with the doppler this early on me, same thing happened with Davis at this appointment. I'm not complaining...I got to peek in on "peanut" as we have nicknamed this one. I have been pretty sick this time, not at all with Davis, so everyone keeps telling me this must be a girl:) We don't care either way- healthy is all we can ask for! Keep you posted on peanut and the Big Brother:)

It is still hard for me to believe that my little man is 2! He has grown up so fast but each new stage is fun and exciting:) He is truly a joy and I am so thankful to be his mommy.

Davis LOVES the show Chuggington on Disney so I decided to do a train-themed birthday party! Appropriately so, Davis was the Train Engineer for the afternoon. It is so much fun to see such joy through those little eyes. All the kids had a blast and a few mommies even thanked me for helping their boys sleep good that night:)

Pumpkin Patch and Halloween

Davis is obsessed with Choo-Choos:) So, naturally he was a Train Engineer for Halloween. Below are a few pictures of Davis with his class at school.

We went back to the Dreamfield Farms Pumpkin Patch this year! I think we will make this a family tradition. Davis loved the inflatables, the animals, and picking out his own little pumpkin. We wore our pumkin outfit but it dropped off cold so we had to stay bundles up the whole time.

We spent a weekend at the farm with SuSu and G and watched the Alabama Game! Davis had a ball!! There were so many rocks, sticks, bugs, tractors, etc. for a little boy to play with. We took a ride around the property and the bumpier the better for this little man:)

It was a nice little get away from montgomery and we hope to go back very soon!

VERY behind

So, the summer got away from me and I have not updated the blog in quite a while! After our trip to Navarre in June we spent a few weekends at Susu and G's beach house on Ono Island and next thing I know...it's fall! Davis moved rooms at school in August and is LOVING his big boy activities! He loves the playground and every Friday the Big Green Bus comes to school. Davis is becoming quite the toddler...talking more and more every day and putting words together. I am still sometimes surprised when he answers me or I talk about something and he goes and does it. Nothing gets past these little ears:)

My least favorite toddler things...NO and MINE:( We are working on removing these from his vocabulary but am reassured by friends this is truly a toddler phase and not just MY child. I know he has picked this up at school as they all duke it out over toys but it just bothers me to hear him say it!

My most favorite toddler things... big hugs around my neck, kisses, seeing his silly personality, obsession with trains (Choo Choos), how he wants to "rock rock" for just a second and snuggle into me before he asks to go to bed, singing his version of the abc's amoung other songs, I could go on and on!!

But like I said, It's Fall...which means it's the most wonderful time of the year!!! (have you heard that NFL commercial??) Roll Tide!

Navarre, Florida

We took our annual Sharpe family trip to Navarre the second week in June. Davis was a little "iffy" about the sand the first day but by the end of the week...watch out! He also has no fear of waves so we had to watch him pretty closely:) It was a week of great family time, great food, and a great break from the grind!

Then, the following Monday back from vacation...I got a Promotion:) I am officially a Manager at my firm! June was a great month:)

Memorial day 2011

We spent Memorial Day 2011 in Orange Beach, AL. Susu and G loved sharing some new experiences with Davis! He technically got on a boat last summer but he was so young he had no idea where he was. I think he loved the boat, of course everytime we went for a cruise...he fell asleep! Must be soothing for him. Who can blame him? I love a boat ride too! Saturday we went to visit our dear friends Blake and Edward and their little man George. My friend Sarah from college came down for the day too and brought Davis' birthday buddy Coleman. That's right, Sarah and I had our little boys on the same day! She beat me to it though, I think Coleman was born around lunchtime and Davis was not born until 3:37. We had a great weekend ! I cannot believe how fast 5 years has gone by! But on the other hand, I married my best friend so time flies when you are having fun- right? Hunter and I have been together a LONG time but I could not imagine growing old with anyone else:) Thank you babe for loving me, supporting me, and laughing with me. Happy 5th Anniversary to us!

Cherish every moment

My family had a very eye opening month!! My dad had a heart attack a few weeks ago. He is going to be fine and we feel very lucky because he has very little damage to his heart muscle. But in those moments when I did not know what was going on and whether he would be ok- God reminded me of how precious our loved ones are and that we should cherish every moment we have with them. We never know when He might call them home. I am so very thankful today for my wonderful family and very wonderful friends, I hope each of them know how much I love them!!!

I addition to this, I just read on a friend of mine's blog about this family that lost a mother and 15 month old in a car accident. First, I cannot imagine what that family is going through or how you even go on? Only one way and I will pray they turn to God and find peace with this! Well, my friend wrote how she let her girls sleep with them last night and not worry about bad habits or blah blah blah. I could not agree more!!! they are only babies for such a short period of time and one day they will not want to sleep with us. So for now, I am going to hold on tight and snuggle my little buddy even tighter tonight...Cherishing every moment!!!

15 months

Well, our little man is 15 months old now and keeping us on our toes! He is truly becoming a little boy- part of me gets sad because my baby is growing up but the other part of me thinks every new phase is my favorite! He is so funny and so opinionated these days! Some funny little things Davis is up to these days:

We had some surprisingly wonderful weather in February and even though tax season is in full swing, we just had to take advantage and go to the zoo. I went in to work that morning but rushed home to get to the zoo before is afternoon nap. This was Davis' first trip and he had a blast!

Davis really got into Christmas this year! It did not take him long to figure out the whole present concept...except now he thinks everything wrapped is for him:) Most of the time he is right but we do go to birthday parties:)

We went to see Santa today at Wynlakes and Davis did really well! At first I thought he was going to fuss and wiggle his way down but then he got interested in the Christmas tree and he was fine. Below is a picture of Davis with Santa today and exactly one year ago...my how my baby boy has grown!

Thanksgiving feast

Since Davis was only about 2 weeks old last thanksgiving, this was his first thanksgiving meal experience! Hunter and I went to ECDC for his thanksgiving lunch and I was floored when his teacher handed him and ear of corn and he went to town!! I had not idea you could eat corn on the cob with 4 teeth but as you can see below he was really getting after it:) This thanksgiving we traveled to Hunter's grandparents house in Tanner, AL( near Decatur) spent the night and then drove about an hour to my grandparents house in Hackleburg, AL (near Florence). So, basically we spent thanksgiving in the the country! Davis did really well with all the driving thanks to Baby Enstein. I of course did not take pictures of our travels but I got a picture of Davis sproting his Turkey shirt below.

Birthday parties!!

Davis had almost 2 weeks of celebrating his birthday!!!! But of course...our first born and first grandson on both sides...what else do you expect??

His actual birthday was on a friday and we grilled out with my parents and celebrated his big day and his "Big Daddy's" (aka my dad) birthday which was the next day! He had his first taste of frosting and I think he is a fan:) We got up the next morning and headed to Tuscaloosa for his second celebration...a bama tailgate birthday:) Then the next weekend he had an animal party with all his buddies. All the kiddos came dressed as animals and it was too cute!

Happy First Brithday Davis!!! Your mommy and Daddy love you more than we knew was possible! I don't know what I did or thought about before you were born but you bring us so much joy each and every day. I cannot believe an entire year has gone by since I first held you in my arms...people warned me you would grow up way to fast and I am starting to believe them! We have 2 fun-filled birthday celebration weekends ahead!

Sassafras Rose Sharpe

One year ago today God got back one of his furry little angels. Sassy was my 16th birthday present but she stole the heart of our whole family. She was our baby for 12 wonderful years! Sassy was such a sweet dog and just loved to be with her family! She was a great snuggler, snacker, and had fabulous attitude! We still miss her every day and wonder what she would have thought about Davis being around:) I trully hope the poem below is true...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

First Halloween!

My first Halloween was so much fun! It started on Wednesday night when I went to halloween night at Wynlakes and ate dinner with my pals Gunner and Anne Riley. I was not real sure about the costume that night...

Then on Friday we had a halloween party at school...

Last weekend we headed out Pike Road to the Pumpkin Patch and met some of friends there. Davis loved the animals- especially the ducks and baby goats because they made all the noise! We watched pigs race to eat but did not like the pig when it was squealing. The babies also loved the corn box- kind of like a sand box but with corn kernels. We had to watch Davis like a hawk though...he kept trying to eat the corn- total choking hazard!

Well, September is here and it's now football season! Our family is one big Bama family! We love this time of year, we love tailgating and going to the games. Davis has to learn early...ROLL TIDE!

Well, the month of August got away from me! We are now in September... I was working out of town so much that I have not had time to do a blog post. Let's see, in August...Davis learned to crawl on all fours instead of his army crawl, he started pulling up, and is now walking along tables! He had wet n wild day at school, went to see an ENT, and continues to be VERY vocal! We have given up on sleep at the Groce House but are hoping tubes will make Davis a better sleeper one day!

Another big change this month was that Davis moved from the infant room to the crawler room at school- tear:( my baby is growing up! I just loved his teachers and was very sad about him having to move but I know we will love our new teachers just as much!

Wedding and first plane ride

We all traveled to Kansas City the weekend of August 14th because Seth and Ashley were getting married! Seth is Davis' Godfather. Davis flew for the first time and we survived the airport with a 9 month old. It was a beautiful day, a little warm, and we were so touched to be a part of their big day. We wish them a long and happy life together and love them both so much!

Well, let's see...in the last few months Davis has started crawling and the whole world has opened up to him. He is so curious and into everything! He is not crawling on his hands and knees, its more of an army crawl but he can sure move:) He is so vocal but it only consists of the da das and ba bas..and a few mmmms but no mama yet!

Last weekend he was in rare form- I went in there when he was supposed to be taking his morning nap and he was pulled up on the side of his crib. So, time to lower the crib- what an ordeal! Then I was putting away clothes in his room and left on his own had every book off his shelf and created a mountain around him. I figured that was his way of telling me he wanted to read so I stopped what I doing and sat in floor with him and read half a book before he was on the move again! I don't know why he is so fascinated by everything I don't want him to touch like cords, glass, etc. I see signs of fearless, destructiveness and I am realizing my days of seeing what little boys are all about are upon me...here we go!

Davis is still not napping in a crib if put down awake as these pictures show he will not have anything to do with a nap in his crib! But he loves a nap with mommy: I know, so bad- but when you work full time you cherish these precious moments of a sweet sleeping child who searches for you in his sleep and holds on to you.

Lake weekend

Let me start by summing up this weekend- organized chaos:) You don't know how much help your husband is until he is not around for a weekend and you are not at home with all your stuff!!

Davis and myself packed up and went to the lake with some of my closest friends and their babies- Mary Katherine had Charlie and Elizabeth Ann, Casey had Anne Katherine and Mary Charles (due in September), and Julie had Olivia. It was so good to see these friends that I don't get to see near enough and to get to spend time with all our beautiful children! I am blessed to have these ladies in my life and hope our children grow up to be the best of friends!

We did decide next time we make a trip together we either bring daddy or leave them all at home:)

Davis' first trip to Florida

We went to the beach for a week the beginning of June, it was wonderful and we certainly did not want to come home and back to school/work and reality! Davis LOVES to swim in the pool but is a little iffy on that sand stuff:) He took many naps on the beach with the breeze and waves!

I know, almost a month late but we spent Memorial Day weekend in Orange Beach. Davis' first road trip- he did great! He took his first boat ride, got in the pool for the first time and finally met his buddy George Herndon! It was a great weekend and we even came back with 2 souvenirs- two little teeth came in the exact same time!

Davis had his 6 month pictures made May 26th. Kim Box is an amazing photographer and put these few proofs on facebook. We go friday to see them all- I can't wait. I know he's my baby but I sure do think he is cute:)

Baptism

Davis Allen was baptized on Sunday May 23rd. We had so many friends and our families to celebrate his big day. He looked like a little angel in all that lace:) Hunter didn't even fight me on the gown and bonnet, guess he knew it was a loosing battle. But I have promised that I will never put that much lace on our little boy again! Davis sat through the entire church service without a peep and even took a little nap after he was baptized! He really did perfect and the whole ceremony was so special. In our church, we walk in behind the baptismal flag during the procession of the cross, then when the baptism begins we process to the back of the church where the font is and all the children in the church come to the back also and gather around to watch. It really is such a sweet ceremony- just another reason I love the Episcopal Church! We had a luncheon after church at the Groce's house and all the babies played together! We had 7 children around 2 and younger- it was so sweet to see all these new little families together. We have so many special years ahead of us raising our babies together! 6 month check up

We went for Davis' 6 month check up yesterday, May 24th. Everything looks good- including his ears for once! My big boy was 19 pounds 3 ounces and 28 inches long. That puts him in the 75th percentile for weight and 95th percentile for height- still on track to be as tall as my Big Daddy (aka my dad)! He had his shots and only cried for just a second- he is such a good natured baby.

Other milestones- Davis is really sitting up good these days! He is even leaning forward and pushing himself back up and catching himself a little sideways too. He still falls over some but he will get the hang of it! He has also learned a new sound despite all my coaching:( "Da da da da da da da.... I told myself I would not get jealous because it is easier to say than mama, but I can't help it!

Almost Forgot!

Davis finally learned to roll over several weeks ago:)I think the ability has been there for a month or so but the desire had not kicked in! He had rolled over a few times on his own but not consistently enough for me to say he was "rolling over." This was from his first few days of rolling over- he is a pro now rolling to and from his tummy! He is now sitting up on his own for a few seconds, then he gets excited and loses his balance. He will get the hang of it soon!

I have called Davis a monkey for a while now so of course I could not resist a bubble with monkeys on it! I am telling him he is a monkey in these pictures and you can tell he has heard it a few times! I was hillarious that day:) I love to hear him laugh and giggle- its one of the sweetest sounds in the world!

Easter morning was beautiful! We went to church and then to BeBe and Big Daddy's house for lunch and baskets:) We all took a little nap and enjoyed being with family. I hope Everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter!

Spring is here!

Well, March has come and gone way too fast! Partly because of illness and tax season but also because our little boy is growing up way too fast! This month he found his feet, continues to bable but with new sounds and much greater volume, we started cereal and fruits, puts a lot of weight on his legs standing and attempting to pull himself up to a sitting position. We still have a long way to go on sitting up but he no longer likes to sit back and rest up against anyone. He still HATES his tummy so I have about decided he may never crawl:( he rolls to his sides but he wants nothing to do with being on his tummy. I don't know what to do about that- I have been putting him on his stomach since he was 2 weeks old- what else can I do?

Now that the weather has warmed up we have been taking rides in the stroller- he loves to be outside! Thank goodness because he loves TV too! His favorites are Scooby -Doo and The Backyardagains! We are really going to have to watch the amount of time he watches TV!Davis attended his first easter egg hunts and got to meet the Easter bunny! He was less than impressed with the bunny, just kind of rubbed his soft suit. Easter pictures to come!

Ear infections!!!

Oh my gosh! We have another ear infection! That is 3 in less than a month. Poor Davis just can't seem to get well and its not from daycare because he has not been in 2 weeks! It just breaks my heart to see him in that much pain. You know they are bad when the pediatrician takes a look and says "Wow, those are bad." So, we may be seeing an ENT about tubes but Dr. Wood wants to see him again first. I just want a solution, the child cannot live on antibiotics! The most important thing is for him to get well but mom and dad would love to sleep again one day:(

3 months went by kind of fast!

So Davis is 3 1/2 months old and I have not updated the blog since he was born! So sorry but we have been kind of busy. I was home 9 weeks with my little angel and went back to work mid-January. I of course cried all the way to work that monday morning but it has gotten easier. Davis is at ECDC at FUMC in Cloverdale and we love it! Ms. Sayde and Ms. Vonn are wonderful and I certainly don't worry about him! That being said- Davis has kind of been sick a lot the last few weeks. I know it takes their little immune systems time to build up and fight all this stuff but we have had a rough couple of weeks!

A lot has happened in Davis's life so far- Alabama won the SEC championship, his first Christmas, then Alabama won the national championship, it snowed in Alabama, the list goes on! Davis has now reached a precious stage where he is smiling all the time, cooing, and very matter of fact about telling me something- just wish I knew what that something was:)I cannot wait to get home to him every day! And best of all- he has been sleeping through the night for about a month now!!

He is almost 16 pounds and solid- I think I have a linebacker in the making!

Baby Davis

These first few days have been crazy but I am so in love with my little guy! I never knew you could love someone so much- instantly! He is just wonderful and I of course think he is perfect:) Daddy took the whole week off too so we have been at home loving him to pieces. We feel so blessed to have him!!! Delivery Day

We went to the hospital at 2:30 Wednesday, November 11 to get things started. Jeri was given Pitocin at 5:00 Thursday morning, and Dr. Dupre broke Jeri's water at 7:00 am. She started to have some good contractions after that, and they gave her an epidural shortly after. Jeri said life was good after they gave her the epidural.

Davis arrived at 3:34 pm on Thursday November 12. He was 7lbs 12oz and 20 inches long. Below are some pictures of the big day.

38 weeks and and induction date

We have an induction date! I will be admitted Wednesday, November 11th and they will start the induction early Thursday morning at like 4 am. So, Davis will have a November 12th birthday:) which is the day before his granddaddy's (aka Big Daddy) birthday! Hope my dad is ready to share his birthday from here on out! Somehow I don't think he will mind. Dr. Dupre decided to induce me because I had an ultrasound on November 3rd and they estimated Davis was already 7 pounds and 1 ounce. He felt if he let me go all the way to my due date- November 20th- he might be too big for me to have. We will see! BOY! We found out June 3rd that we would be having a baby boy! But most importantly, he was measuring just as he should be and heartbeat was still good and strong at 155- guess those old wives tales really are just tales- its definitely a boy! He was moving all around and even waving at us. He also was not very shy about sharing with us what he was- if we had not wanted to know it would have been too bad because he was not modest in the least!

Having grown up with a sister and a house full of Barbies and ballet shoes I really don't know what to expect with a little boy but excited and a little nervous to find out. I have never even changed a little boy's diaper but i have been told I better be quick:)

Wow- what a difference a month makes! I went back to Dr. Dupre for my 12 week checkup and the nurse attempted to hear the heartbeat with the Doppler and could not find it. So, I got to have another ultrasound to make sure everything was ok and to check the heartbeat. I could not believe how much had changed- we had arms and legs and moving all around!! Actually looks like a baby now- heartbeat was 151 so everyone had their predictions on whether baby Groce was a boy or a girl! Old wives tales would predict girl- we would find out in another 4 weeks! Below are pictures at 12 weeks.

We found out in March that we would be parents! We are so excited, thankful, and truly blessed! It was tax season for me when we found out so I had to get through those first few weeks of pregnancy- a little nausea but extreme exhaustion- while working 60 hour weeks! It was kind of rough but I made it through and would do it all again.

We both went to the first appointment the beginning of April and Dr. Dupre was kind enough to insist on an ultrasound so we could see out little "butter bean." This became baby's nickname for the first 16 weeks of its life...Aunt Erin is still calling our little one butter bean:) Everything on the ultrasound looked perfect and we got to see and hear the tiny heartbeat- it was truly amazing! Due date is November 20, 2009. Below are this pictures from the first ultrasound at almost 8 weeks.

I have been told by many I need to start a blog to keep in touch with friends and family- so here it goes!

I think its best to start from the beginning...Hunter and I met when were 15!! Yes, our parents dropped us off at the movies on our first date:) We dated over 2 years in high school and then reconnected in college. We dated over 8 years before we got engaged on July 2, 2005 in Orange Beach, AL. We had a beautiful wedding on May 20, 2006 at The Church of the Ascension in Montgomery, AL and reception at my parents home. We honeymooned in Italy (Hunter has promised to take me back for our anniversary some day) and now we are happily settled in Montgomery. It is hard to believe that was three years ago! We have had so much fun these first few years- we have traveled to see friends far away, football games, beach, Disney World, and married off a few best friends. Oh how life is about to change...
